“I’m launching my manifesto consultation ahead of the election of the first West Yorkshire Mayor in May. I want to build a manifesto that represents all of West Yorkshire. I want to hear from you, from charities and from businesses across our region, about what you want from your mayor. I want to work with you to make sure that West Yorkshire is the best place to grow up and grow old in. ”

Tracy Brabin

Labour candidate for West Yorkshire Mayor

Manifesto consultation

  • From May 2021 the new mayor of West Yorkshire will take on the powers of the Police and Crime Commissioner. What your priorities for the future of policing and crime prevention here in West Yorkshire?
  • The impact of Covid-19 on our economy has been huge. We need to stimulate an economic recovery that creates good jobs, provides people with new skills and supports our local businesses. What do you see as the most important factors to create a fair and just recovery in West Yorkshire?
  • We need to make West Yorkshire the best place to invest in green and sustainable industries. Tell me about your priorities for tackling the climate emergency and creating a sustainable economy.
  • So many people across West Yorkshire are struggling to buy their first home. We need to make sure that new homes are affordable and sustainable. Tell about your priorities for housing and planning across West Yorkshire.
  • Transport is essential to people’s lives, it impacts how we get to work, see our families, use public services and get to school or college. Too often our region is left behind, with routes cut, services reduced, and towns and villages at the mercy of for-profit bus and rail companies that can make more money by not running services. Tell me about what you'd like our public transport to look like here in West Yorkshire
  • I'm passionate about our culture and heritage here in West Yorkshire. During lockdown we've seen first hand the benefits culture and arts can have on our mental health. What would you like to see in West Yorkshire to support our creative industries?
  • From early years interventions to further education, every aspect of our young peoples' learning has been disrupted due to Covid-19. I want to hear from you about how you think we can support our children in education.
  • Is there anything else you'd like to add that isn't covered by this form?
